OKAY! So starting my blog with one of my favourite writer... "PAULO COELHO "

About this author
The Brazilian author PAULO COELHO was born in 1947 in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Before dedicating his life completely to literature, he worked as theatre director and actor, lyricist and journalist. In 1986, Paulo Coelho did the pilgrimage to Saint James of Compostella, an experience later to be documented in his book The Pilgrimage.

Top 10 Inspiring Books of Paulo Coelho

10. The Pilgrimage

The story begins in 1986 when Coelho undertakes his initiation into the order Regnus Agnus Mundi (RAM) which he subsequently fails, he is then told that he must embark on a pilgrimage along the Way of St. James to find the sword that is the symbol of his acceptance into the ranks of RAM. He must do this to gain insight into the simplicity of life, the journey transforms him as he learns to understand the nature of truth through the simplicity of life.

“It has been said that there is no such thing as coincidence in this world.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Pilgrimage

9. Manual of the Warrior of Light

This book is written as if it were an actual handbook for a supposedly Templar or Paladin warrior, the warrior however being a metaphor not for those who serve a certain lord, an ideal or the weak, but for those in pursuit of their dreams and who appreciate the miracle of life. The manual describes the challenges the warrior faces and solutions to the problems, including paradoxes (such as the section "sometimes the Warrior behaves like a rock" is followed directly by "sometimes the Warrior behaves like Water". Rock (stability) and Water (flexibility) are given as opposite metaphors in Taoism).
“From the moment we are born, people tell us that the world is like this and like that, this way, that way. It is natural that - for a certain period of time - we end up believing what we are told. But we must soon push these ideas aside and discover our own way of living reality.” ― Paulo Coelho, Warrior of the Light
8. Brida
Brida is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. It is the story of a beautiful young Irish girl and her quest for knowledge. On her journey she meets a wise man who teaches her to overcome fear and a woman who teaches her how to dance to the hidden music of the world. They see in her a gift, but must let her make her own voyage of discovery. As Brida seeks her destiny, she struggles to find a balance between her relationships and her desire to transform herself. The story is neatly woven around the ancient belief of witchcraft and related to the present world in an interesting way.
“Nothing in the world is ever completely wrong. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.”― Paulo Coelho, Brida
7. Veronika Decides to Die {Must read This one is my favourite!!}

Twenty-four-year-old Veronika seems to have everything -- youth and beauty, boyfriends and a loving family, a fulfilling job. But something is missing in her life. So, one cold November morning, she takes a handful of sleeping pills expecting never to wake up. But she does -- at a mental hospital where she is told that she has only days to live.
Inspired by events in Coelho's own life, Veronika Decides to Die questions the meaning of madness and celebrates individuals who do not fit into patterns society considers to be normal. Bold and illuminating, it is a dazzling portrait of a young woman at the crossroads of despair and liberation, and a poetic, exuberant appreciation of each day as a renewed opportunity.
“Haven't you learned anything, not even with the approach of death? Stop thinking all the time that you're in the way, that you're bothering the person next to you. If people don't like it, they can complain. And if they don't have the courage to complain, that's their problem” ― Paulo Coelho, Veronika Decides to Die
6. The Winner Stands Alone

In The Winner Stands Alone, Paulo Coelho has returned to the important themes ofEleven Minutes and The Zahir: Love and Obsession. He offers a suspenseful novel about the fascinating worlds of fortune and celebrity, where the commitment to luxury and success at any cost often prevents one from hearing what the heart actually desires.
Coelho takes us to the Cannes Film Festival, where the so-called Superclass gathers——those who have made it in the dreammaker’s world of fashion and cinema. Some of them have even reached the very top and are afraid to lose their lofty positions. Money, power, and fame are at stake——things for which most people are prepared to do anything to keep.
At this modern vanity fair we meet Igor, a Russian millionaire; Middle Eastern fashion czar Hamid; American actress Gabriela, eager to land a lead role; ambitious criminal detective Savoy, hoping to resolve the case of his life; and Jasmine, a woman on the brink of a successful modeling career.
Who will succeed in identifying his or her own personal dream among the many prefabricated ones——and succeed in making it come true?
“Life has many ways of testing a person's will, either by having nothing happen at all or by having everything happen all at once.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Winner Stands Alone
5. Aleph

In his most personal novel to date, internationally bestselling author Paulo Coelho returns with a remarkable journey of self-discovery. Like the main character in his much-belovedThe Alchemist, Paulo is facing a grave crisis of faith. As he seeks a path of spiritual renewal and growth, his only real option is to begin again—to travel, to experiment, to reconnect with people and the landscapes around him.
"Don’t be intimidated by other people’s opinions. Only mediocrity is sure of itself, so take risks and do what you really want to do."

— Paulo Coelho, Aleph
4. The Witch of Portobello
How do we find the courage to always be true to ourselves—even if we are unsure of who we are?
That is the central question of international bestselling author Paulo Coelho's profound new work, The Witch of Portobello. It is the story of a mysterious woman named Athena, told by the many who knew her well—or hardly at all. Like The AlchemistThe Witch of Portobello is the kind of story that will transform the way readers think about love, passion, joy, and sacrifice.
"And when you doubt it — which happens, I think, quite often at this stage of evolution — do as I suggested. Instead of trying to prove that you're better than you think, just laugh. Laugh at your worries and insecurities. View your anxieties with humor. It will be difficult at first, but you'll gradually get used to it. Now go back and meet all those people who think you know everything. Convince yourself that they're right, because we all know everything, it's merely a question of believing."
— Paulo Coelho (The Witch Of Portobello)
3. Manuscript Found in Accra
Manuscript Found in Accra is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. The action is placed in 1099 in Jerusalem while the city awaits the invasion of the crusaders. Inside the city’s walls, men and women gathered to hear the wise words of a mysterious man– known as the Copt. The people begin with questions about their fears, true enemies, defeat and struggle; they contemplate the will to change, and the virtues of loyalty and solitude; and ultimately turn to questions of beauty, sex and elegance, love, wisdom and what the future holds.
"Love is only a word, until someone arrives to give it meaning.
Don't give up. Remember, it's always the last key on the key ring that opens the door."
— Paulo Coelho (Manuscript Found in Accra)
2. Like the Flowing River

This book is a compilation of tales, opinions, short stories and ideas drawn from articles published by Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho in various international newspapers. Seven years of reflections, journeys and meetings: the revelation of a fascinating philosophy of life. A brilliant collection cleverly written with passion and humor.
Coelho’s simple words and subtle philosophy encompass reflections on solitude, the art of love or the way to become an archer, to parables on man’s struggles and journey through life. His mission is to observe human beings; what they are and how they are, rather than what they want to be or pretend to be. Coelho’s writing is timeless: thoughts on books and libraries and belonging to a technological age sit alongside an awareness of the value of an ordinary pencil. Appealing to a wide audience, this is inspirational non-fiction from the one of the world’s greatest writers.
“Lord, protect our decisions, because making Decision is a way of praying. Give us the courage after our doubts, to be able to choose between one road and another. May our YES always be a YES and our NO always be a NO. Once we have chosen our road, may we never look back nor allow our soul to be eaten away by remorse. And in order for this to be possible.”
― Paulo Coelho, Like the Flowing River
1. The Alchemist (BESTEST!!!! )

The Alchemist is the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found. From his home in Spain he journeys to the markets of Tangiers and across the Egyptian desert to a fateful encounter with the alchemist.
The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories have done, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, above all, following our dreams.
Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. The Alchemist is such a book. With over a million and a half copies sold around the world, The Alchemist has already established itself as a modern classic, universally admired.
"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."
— Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist)
